I was admitted to the residential mental health recovery program in true crisis and left feeling better equipped to handle my anxiety and depression.

Staff were friendly and helpful as long as you were respectful. The therapists on staff were always ready to listen and provide safety in times of distress.

As with anywhere, there were ups and downs; be sure to bring an eye mask and ear plugs for sleep checks.

This place is NOT safe at all! They not only allowed another client to continuously keep touching/grabbing me and threaten me, they went out of their way to put her in groups I was in and allow her on outings she didn’t earn because I was going. NO ONE got along with her, but she made me her target! Then as I was signing myself out for my own safety, I refused to sign anything but my pharmacy papers and they bent the other papers upwards on clipboard so I couldn’t see what I was signing, but in the end I saw and it said I was leaving because *I* couldn’t get along with the milieu! What a pack of lies! Stay away from this place!

I definitely would not recommend this place. I went here around a year ago for several months straight and it was a disaster. all these memories reemerged today and pushed me to come back and write this.
my groups therapist could be very cold and ignorant to several other peoples feelings, making one person get so angry they had to leave. not going into specifics about that person, but they had a valid point how how our therapist spoke to her and that our group agreed on (when said therapist wasn't in the room).
THEN making the sweetest old lady CRY because again, she was very cold to her, for a good while. we all had to cheer her up (again, when our therapist was away from us) which was honestly the most impactful thing this place gave me: being kind to others and reassuring them that some people can just suck sometimes.
I didn't even get to the part where she was cold to me yet!! but honestly, this post is long enough.
in short, this place made me think group therapy is just a scam. go see a 1 on 1 therapist instead.
if you want an actual "group therapy session" talk to your friends, your family, etc. get deep. research your own topics. you don't need a middleman to have a positive group talk and if you don't have anyone, try any other method than this place. ✌️

Zero One

Ive been here about 4 times over these past year not out of choice but necessity, too bad I couldn’t afford better options. The reason for the one star is purely because of staff attitude. Stuff is rude and doesn’t compromise. On top of that there is no vaping. Ive seen horror stories out of this place such as violent patients not getting immediately baker acted or patients with no where to go getting discharged to the streets. If you can afford a better option pick elsewhere for your own sake.

Three years ago this was a 5-star facility, Present day, after the recent staff changes it is NOT the caring place it once was. My daughter was ridiculed, harassed and made to feel as if her mental illness was an inconvenience by her counselor.If you still choose to come here for your needs, I cannot stress enough the importance of getting a professional to represent you and request your records…They refused to release the records to my daughter’s psychiatrist and family practitioner. My opinion? Patients there seem to be bodies of money…turn and burn. The only reason I did not give this place negative stars was due to the Primary Dr. who was great with finding the correct mix of medications for treatment, one or two staff members who actually seemed to care about the patients, and the interactions and connections with the patients themselves as they supported each other through their journeys. Spend some time with your insurance company to see ALL your facility options for treatment.

This program saved my life. I stayed 2 months there specifically for medication management. Going in to treatment I hated psychiatrists. This program is the first of many treatments I went to where I loved my psychiatrist. She took the time out to listen to my concerns about medications and was patient with my treatment protocol. Any other treatment center could have sent me on my way after 45 days as my medications were working 85 percent of the time. This program made sure I was going home properly medicated to be safe. This program does not consider you as a number. This program truly sees you as a patient who is struggling and needs their life to be placed in a program like this to be saved and recovered enough to go back out into the real world. The staff is amazing. I am not singling any specific employee because they are all so great and compassionate. Yes there are rules and structure in this program that staff will adhere to. I've been to countless programs and worked in the treatment industry for 6 years and this program by far exceed my expectations. I you go here keep an open mind and trust that this program gives you the ability to change your life for the better and you are in great hands. If you are a loved one reading this la amastad wil take care of them. I thank God everyday that I found la amastad and put my life in their hands. I truly didn't think any medication would help my situation and they guided me in the direction to save my life. 10 stars for this program. I will thank God every morning for leading me down la amastad path of recovery.

Love this place so far. Finished my first full week and I’m very eager and motivated to continue this process.
La Amistad offers so much help and the groups are very well structured and put together in a way that it’s easy to learn and retain what applies to your situation most. In just 8 days I’m in a completely new place emotionally, mentally and physically and I’m excited to continue the process. The staff is awesome. Mrs. Sharon is so kind and great at what she does. All the staff has been extremely helpful. Devin, Anthony & Josh have also made my first week here super smooth and they’re willing to help out with anything we need.

If you’re looking for a place to actually heal and recover, La Amistad is the place to do it. Highly recommended.

If you come in with the attitude and goal to make positive changes, you will get a lot of knowledge and new skills to keep you in a healthy place in your life.

At first I was hesitant to seek psychiatric help, due to my experiences with other mental health facilities. My brother went to the adult campus years ago and said he enjoyed his stay. It seems they are reluctant to give patients certain kind of medications, but I never experienced this problem. The other patients were very welcoming and made me feel as If I belonged. The staff are very helpful and accommodating. The food is delicious. Definitely not your typical mental hospital. Would recommend to anyone seeking psychiatric help.
