I went in with a leg injury and in a lot of pain but the staff was reluctant to give anything to relieve the pain. My sister called several times to complain since she dropped me off due to me not being able to drive but was hung up on and kept being told they would call her back. I felt uncomfortable like I was being looked at like a drug addict or something while I was just in pain.
They hurried to do a scan and found no broken bones but I had a big knot on my leg and bruised ankle where I had previously had surgery.
The Dr who I have the name of was quick to discharge me even when I said I wanted to wait for my sister. They made me sign the paper to be discharged and wheeled me out in the waiting room to sit and wait. As I sat feeling uncomfortable like I was trash I realized they discharged me without taking out the IV needle in my arm which has made me mentally terrified of how hospitals treat patients.
I feel I was in pain and never really go to the hospital but was labeled as someone who just wanted drugs or something when obviously I had injuries that could clearly be seen from falling off a ladder.

My sister said she asked why they discharged me so fast when I could possibly fall and their response was it wouldn’t be on them if I fell because I was discharged.
This has left me traumatized and the worst part is that this injury has been going for more than a month. Now I am thinking maybe if the treatment was better to begin with it would have already been healed.
I haven’t said anything previously because I have been in disbelief and felt discriminated against or looked at as faking it but I will be reaching out.

My daughter has been in and out of this hospital with MBC for the last two years. She has received very compassionate care and been made to feel special. We have probably been on every floor and have received treatment from some of the kindest nurses and attendants. I have come to know several members of the palliative care staff and the chaplains and get the feeling that they genuinely care for my daughter.

My Fiancé had to go to the Emergency room. They acted quickly but a lone young male nurse was tasked with running an IV and doing an EKG . He couldn’t hit her vein , rolled one vein and blew out another and had her bleeding , I had to get paper towel for the blood . Then when he was applying the leads for the EKG he did not explain the procedure nor did he ask for permission to stick his hand right up my Fiancés shirt , this incompetent supposed nurse did not even ask . We were shocked and he made her very uncomfortable. Back to the IV he still couldn’t do his job right the third time , when he finally got it in he DiDn’t , he missed when he put the medicine in , she complained that it hurt he didn’t give a care. The fact that there was no charge nurse either Pod 7 and all the women working there did not have the consideration to tell this guy to not just stick his hand up women’s shirts without consent is disgusting . The apathy and attitude of midlevels and providers is sad , it is sad that it is a minor miracle to get someone who even acts like they care . The quality of care is abysmal in emergency rooms . I called the Emergency department and was told by a nurse that she didn’t do it and transferred to the manager I mean her voicemail. She won’t call back .

I had the worst experience at the Breast Center. Upon entering the center, there was no clear signage or person directing you what to do (It's not every day I get a procedure done, so I wasn't sure what to do). Finally, a younger woman poked her head around the cubicle and POINTED to the paper where I guess you're supposed to sign in. She didn't say ANYTHING, just pointed. Strike one.

Then, I sat down and waited for my name to be called, and it was called by the same young woman who refused to offer any sort of communication. I sat down with her at her cubicle, and she asked for my driver's license and insurance card. Then just said I'm going to need you to sign some things - no info on what I would be agreeing to. So I had to ask for additional information, and she reluctantly POINTED to a sign on the divider. Strike two.

Next, I asked what the cost would be and if they offered a cash discount instead of using my insurance. She told me that she had never done that before and another lady popped her head around her cubicle so the two of them could figure it out. So I sat there waiting in silence, and then the other lady left. No communication from the first young lady about what was happening, so I had to ask. She then told me that she had somehow communicated with her manager via the computer (not sure if it was email, Slack, Teams, etc.) and that she was waiting for a response. About ten minutes had gone by as we sat in silence.

About 10 minutes had passed, and the other lady popped her head around the corner to offer assistance and mentioned something about having to go check with the radiologist or someone if we could proceed with the procedure because they HAD to take some sort of payment before the procedure was done.

Strike three - when the second lady came back, she said the radiologist had left for the day, and I missed my appointment and would have to reschedule. I lost it at this point and told them I would not be coming back because this had nothing to do with me, and I already had taken time off work for this. I was on time for my appointment and then being punished by asking for a cost on an out-of-pocket vs. insurance payment option. People are already stressed out and on high alert, as they enter the breast cancer clinic, waiting to find out if their lives are going to be changed, and then you have to deal with people like this - no personality, no communication, nothing?!

I am expected to do my job day in and day out; these people need to be held to the same standard.

I was hemorrhaging, light headed and severe right side pain. My doctor told me to go to the ER. I waited 45 min to check in and once I got up to the counter the nurse checking me in laughed and said "Your doctor told you wrong. You shouldn't be here." She did check me in but told me I would be waiting a very long time as I was not an emergency. I walked out and called my doctor. If you want respect or to be treated like an actual human do not go here! This is not my first terrible experience with this hospital but it will certainly be the last.

We ended up here because there are very few places our son could be seen for a possible broken foot on a Sunday evening. I would give a zero if I could. I have no faith in this ER department at all. We were shuffled three times from waiting room to internal waiting room to the exam room to some place they told us was the result “waiting area” but I can only describe as the 7th layer of hell.

The third shuffle was when they kicked us out of the exam room after our son’s X-ray to wait for results. The explanation was , “We are moving you to somewhere that is more comfortable to wait for your results.” Reality was a dingy alcove with a line of 6 cheap semi- recliners that clearly had not been cleaned and one seat for the family to share. My son said it was definitely less comfortable on his foot than the exam
Room. As a bonus, you could pull the curtains halfway on either side so you could not see the other people, but clearly hear everything they said and everything the staff said to them including personal information. We had the added bonus of being at the entrance so everyone could stare at us as they walked by.

Our prize at the end was a diagnosis of, “Not broken and unspecified right foot pain with swelling” the nurse brought a big walking boot said, “I was told to give this to you if you want it, but it is overkill since the doctor said it was not broken.” She told us we needed to follow up with an orthopedic doctor and the hospital could provide us with a name. We declined for several reasons including the fact they told us to follow up with an orthopedic doctor after declaring it not broke and our teenage son saying I have had X-rays before and I don’t think they knew what they were doing. We were watching from outside the room and completely agree or maybe we are just spoiled by real doctors and professionals when we have been to the orthopedic doctor.

If you love your family members go some place else. If you seek revenge on someone, this would be an excellent way to seek vengeance. The good news for us…It was not life or death. We now have a back up plan if we ever need to be seen at an urgent care or ER on a weekend night.

ASHLEY TAYLOR SEARS-----This is about Ashley Sears, my "case manager" , everyone else we encountered during the 14 days I spent in the hospital was GREAT. I waited this long to leave a review to ensure nothing was done in retaliation of a bad review. We are STILL dealing with errors caused by Ashley doing her job WRONG on the 6th floor back in July of 2023. We are still dealing with problems due to her "accidently" starting to discharge me on the 8th day of my 14 day stay causing ALL SORTS of problems with Insurance billing, hospital billing problems, pre auth codes, how ins pays, what they pay etc etc etc.....Ashley is TERRIBLE at her job, and terrible with the patients that she has to communicate with. She would intentionally come into my room and ask me important questions when my wife was gone (fully knowing she is the one to ask) and I was way too impaired (due to the pain killers) to be liable for answering anything about insurance. I also heard Ashley being very rude to an older lady across the hall from my room telling her " I dunno what to tell you, you have to leave, find someone to come pick you up", keep in mind, this was an 80 some year old lady.....just terrible. All in all, I don't have a single complaint with St Francis hospital, the Doctors or the physical therapy office....Just Ashley Taylor Sears and how rude she was to my wife and I during my stay on the 6th floor from 7/22-8/3 2023
